Earth is a feminine and receptive element and represents the practical knowledge and work achieved by the wise.  Where Air dreams, Fire Acts and Water feels, Earth simply is and brings stability, provides order, growth and prosperity. 

Earth, the most complex of elements, is silent, nurturing and creative.  It is the element of death and rebirth, beginnings and endings and is associated with fertility, both literally in the case of pregnancy, birth, growth and figuratively in material gain, business, prosperity, sustenance and creativity.  Earth is the nourishing element from which we are born, and, one to which our earthly body will return when it dies.  

During life Mother Earth, the Goddess, surrounds us with her love, offers us healing and supports us in the material world and she lovingly enfolds our body with dark, silent comfort at the end of our lives. 

When you think of Earth what springs to your mind?  I think of the Goddess and her ability to nurture and sustain life, she is the ground beneath our feet, the trees that give us the air we breathe, in the rivers and streams that provide the water we drink and in every animal, bird and flower.  She is the provider of food and shelter and represents the 'heart' and actions of the Craft, so use her influence often and with love.
